Installation

  1. Install WPBakery Page Builder plugin
  2. Unzip twitter-feed-addon-vc.zip
  3. Upload all the files to the /wp-content/plugins/twitter-feed-addon-vc
  4. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
  5. For customizing the plugin’s settings, click on Twitter Feed Addon menu in WordPress of left admin menu.

Getting started

When you have Twitter Feeds Addon and WPBakery Page Builder plugin, you can start building your website and implement our addon along the way.

Although, You need to set the Twitter API settings before using twitter feed elements in your site.

If you have all the required settings set in WPBakery Page Builder, you may now go to pages or posts listing screen. On each page or posts you can see “Edit with WPBakery Page Builder” option which will direct you to the “Frontend Editor”. If you normally move on to the post/page edit screen then you may edit using the “Backend Editor”.

WPBakery Page Builder has two editors: Frontend and Backend. In both editors, you can add new elements. Twitter Feeds addon will have its own element listed. Try adding a new element, a popup section with addon appear where you can select our twitter feeds element.

Add the element, and you will be given the setting to edit the container of the twitter feeds.

Now, as you will be able to see a “+” sign which represents that you can add twitter feeds into the container. On pressing it you will come up with a popup, listing the different layout that can be chosen for displaying the twitter feeds.

When you add the twitter feeds they are contained inside the main container. The different layouts for displaying the twitter feeds are:

  • List
  • Slider
  • Ticker

Twitter Feed Addon Backend List

If you are happy with what you want you can update the post and the elements will be displayed on the associated page/post. If you want more control over the content or want to change the settings while you are previewing the frontend, then you can do so using the frontend editor.

The frontend editor has the settings same as in backend. However, you can view the contents change while you save changes. The changes only apply once you have committed the change by updating it. In the frontend editor you view all the changes you apply on list, slider and ticker layouts as well.

Plugin Settings

You can configure all the plugin settings in the Plugin’s Settings Panel as per your requirements.

For convenience, Admin can set a Twitter App once and other users can show their twitter feed by just using their Username.
You should fill the correct details in these fields to make the plugin work properly.For this you will need to go to here and create an app to get those credentials.

Steps to configure Twitter:

  • First you need to go to https://apps.twitter.com/
  • You need to login to Twitter if you are not already logged in.
  • Click on Create New App
  • You will need to fill a Create an Application form where you need to specify the application Name, Description, Website, a callback URL(optional) and agree to the Developer Agreement. Once you have filled all the form fields click on create your Twitter Application.
  • Congratulation you have created a Twitter App! To get your Consumer Key(API Key) and Consumer Secret(API Secret), go to the Keys and Access Tokens Tab.
  • Check the Application setting to get your Consumer Key(API Key) and Consumer Secret(API Secret).
  • Look for Create my Access Token button to generate your Access token and Access token secret. Click on the button to view your Access token and Access token secret.
  • And you are done! Now you can use API Key, API Secret, Access token and Access token secret.

Cache Period

Please fill the period of time in which the feeds should be fetched.Default is 1 hour i.e 60 minutes.

Layouts

There are three layouts. First one for displaying Twitter Feeds in list manner and the other two for displaying Twitter Feeds in slider and Ticker layouts.

Twitter Feeds List

The Twitter Feed list layout displays the tweets in a vertical list format.

Twitter Feeds Slider

The Twitter Feed slider layout displays the tweets inside a slider displaying tweets one at a time.

Twitter Feeds Ticker

The Twitter Feed ticker layout displays the limited number of tweets in a vertical queue format introducing new tweets each time.

Twitter Feed from Hashtags
You can even use twitter feeds from hashtags just as displaying tweets from twitter users.

List Feeds

Some of the configurable options found in Twitter List Feeds are as follows:

General Setting
  • Fetch Type: Choose between retrieving the tweets from either the username or hashtag value
  • Username: The twitter username from which you wish to fetch it’s tweets. You can fetch tweets from multiple users in the same place, just separate the usernames by comma. Leaving this field retrieves tweets from the user whose Twitter API is in use.
  • Hashtag: Fetch tweets on the basis of Hashtag values provided.
  • Total Tweets: The number of tweets to fetch
  • Date and Time format: Whether to show the full date and time, date only or elapsed time of individual tweets publish.
  • Fetch Unavailable Message: Message to show when tweets from particular twitter user or any error occurs with the Twitter API.
Component Setting
  • Show Follow Button: Check it to show follow button of twitter users.
  • Disable Twitter Actions: Check it to hide the Twitter actions(such as Reply, Retweet and Favourite)
  • Disable Username: Check it to hide the username of the twitter user from the tweets.
  • Disable Image of Feeds: Check it to hide the media images from the twitter feeds.
  • Image width: Manipulate the media image size to be displayed in the tweets.
Layout Setting
  • Template: The different predefined templates for displaying tweets in attractive ways.
  • Customization Settings: Color customization of different components of tweets.

Slider Feeds

Some of the configurable options found in Twitter Slider Feeds are as follows:

General Setting
  • Fetch Type: Choose between retrieving the tweets from either the username or hashtag value
  • Username: The twitter username from which you wish to fetch it’s tweets. You can fetch tweets from multiple users in the same place, just separate the usernames by comma. Leaving this field retrieves tweets from the user whose Twitter API is in use.
  • Hashtag: Fetch tweets on the basis of Hashtag values provided.
  • Total Tweets: The number of tweets to fetch
  • Date and Time format: Whether to show the full date and time, date only or elapsed time of individual tweets publish.
  • Fetch Unavailable Message: Message to show when tweets from particular twitter user or any error occurs with the Twitter API.

  • Show Follow Button: Check it to show follow button of twitter users.
  • Disable Twitter Actions: Check it to hide the Twitter actions(such as Reply, Retweet and Favourite)
  • Disable Username: Check it to hide the username of the twitter user from the tweets.
  • Disable Image of Feeds: Check it to hide the media images from the twitter feeds.
  • Image width: Manipulate the media image size to be displayed in the tweets.
Slider Settings
  • Disable Slider Controls Check it to hide the slider controls(prev and next button) from the slider
  • Disable Auto Slide: Check it to disable the slider to move between tweets from time to time.
  • Disable Adaptive Height Check it to disable the slider’s adaptation when tweets of different heights appear.
  • Slider Mode Choose whether to the tweets slide in or fade in the view.
  • Slider Duration Time Delay until a new tweet comes sliding into view.
Layout Setting
  • Template: The different predefined templates for displaying tweets in attractive ways.
  • Customization Settings: Color customization of different components of tweets.

Ticker Feeds

General Setting

  • Visible Tweets: The number of tweets to display at a time
  • Date and Time format: Whether to show the full date and time, date only or elapsed time of individual tweets publish.
  • Fetch Unavailable Message: Message to show when tweets from particular twitter user or any error occurs with the Twitter API.
Component Setting
  • Show Follow Button: Check it to show follow button of twitter users.
  • Disable Twitter Actions: Check it to hide the Twitter actions(such as Reply, Retweet and Favourite)
  • Disable Username: Check it to hide the username of the twitter user from the tweets.
  • Disable Image of Feeds: Check it to hide the media images from the twitter feeds.

Ticker Settings
  • Ticker Direction Whether to move the tweets up or down
  • Ticker Speed: The speed in which the ticker moves.
  • Ticker Pause Duration Time Delay until a new tweet comes into view.
  • Pause on Mouse Hover Check it to stop the movement of the ticker on mouse hover.
  • Disable Controls Check it to hide the ticker controls(up and down button) from the ticker
Layout Setting
  • Template: The different predefined templates for displaying tweets in attractive ways.
  • Customization Settings: Color customization of different components of tweets.
