Securing WordPress website with SSL

About SSL (Secure Sockets Layer)

SSL is a transparent protocol which requires little interaction from the end user when establishing a secure session. It provides a secure channel between two machines operating over the Internet or an internal network. SSL is a security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. The SSL protocol is typically used when a web browser needs to securely connect to a web server over the inherently insecure Internet. SSL is already used by millions of websites around the globe and is the industry standard for protecting online transactions. To encrypt a site and make a safe SSL connection, it is essential to install a SSL Certificate on the web server.

Securing WordPress website with SSL

Millions of websites user has started securing their information by SSL on the internet consistently, especially during online transactions or when transmitting confidential data. Web users have come to associate their online security with the lock symbol that accompanies a SSL-secured site or green address bar that accompanies an extended validation SSL-secured site. SSL-secured sites start with https rather than http.

You really need to secure the communication, if your site lets users enter sensitive information in the browser. Sensitive information might be a social security number, a password, or a credit card number or anything that no one should know except the user and your website. You need an SSL certificate, to establish secure communications between the user and your website.
